The QIMR is offering laboratory-based PhD awards to encourage outstanding science graduates to join the Institute and carry out their postgraduate doctoral study in an approved research area.
Applicants must: be Australian citizens or permanent residents; have achieved honours 1 or equivalent; and be intending to undertake PhD study in the field of medical research in one of the approved areas (detailed project outlines can be found on the website). Selection is based on: the undergraduate record; research experience, including publications; quality of the proposed research; suitability for research training; ability to attract a competitive scholarship; and postgraduate clinical training, where appropriate.
The scholarship is valued at up to $10,000 per year for up to 3 years, and is offered as a top-up to an existing award.
