Agriculture, Veterinary and Environmental Sciences/Environmental Sciences, Engineering and Technology
The scholarship was established in 2009 to attract students with good academic records to pursue a career in Environmental Sciences. The aim of this scholarship is to provide scholars greater financial independence while completing their program. It is the intention of Xstrata to build ongoing relationships with scholars including opportunities for paid work experience and professional networking opportunities during their degree program with a view to scholars being considered for a career with Xstrata upon graduation.
Applicants must: be Australian citizens or permanent residents; be enrolled full time in the 1st year of the Bachelor of Environmental Science and Management or Bachelor of Engineering (Environmental) program; not hold another scholarship; and not be under bond or committed to an employer in a way that would prevent the ability to undertake paid University vacation employment if provided by Xstrata.
The scholarship is valued at $10,000 for 1 year, paid in 2 instalments of $5,000 each semester after the census date. Xstrata Coal may offer the recipient paid industry vacation employment for 3 months for commencing and continuing students from December to February.
