The scholarships were made available through a generous benefaction on the part of Mr T E Moran, who was the founder, together with Mr F J Cato, of the firm Moran & Cato. His son, Dr F H Moran was a medical practitioner. The scholarships available are the T E Moran scholarship for a student in any field of study, and the F H Moran scholarship specifically for a medical student.
The scholarships are open to undergraduate students who are already resident at the college or to students entering the college at a 2nd-year level or higher. Selection is based on university examinations results.
The scholarships cover 15 per cent of the fees at Queen's College.
