The scholarship was established in 2008 by Ms Jacqui Wharton, who successfully undertook studies at Murdoch University despite being diagnosed with Bipolar Affective Disorder. The scholarship offers a student who is a current consumer of a mental health service financial support and encouragement to continue their tertiary education.
Applicants must be: enrolled in minimum of 6 points per semester in an undergraduate course; a current consumer of a mental health service; able to demonstrate personal and/or financial hardship; and an Australian citizen.
The scholarship provides a one-off payment of $1,000.
