Soroptimist International of Launceston have provided funding for this award in memory of Dame Marjorie Parker, who had a 40-year association with the club and was a prominent citizen of Launceston. Soroptimist International is a worldwide service organisation for women in management and the professions, working through service projects to advance human rights and the status of women.
The scholarship is open to female students under 25 years of age who are Australian citizens and have successfully completed at least 2 years of tertiary study. The successful applicant will demonstrate the need for financial support.
The scholarship is valued at $1,000 for 1 year. The award assists with the cost of textbooks, living expenses or other costs associated with undertaking tertiary study.
