The bursary was established in 2003 with a donation from Mr George Roberts.
Applicants must: achieve a minimum of a credit average in their first year undergraduate subjects; have been in residence at George Roberts Hall for at least 1 full academic year; be outstanding residents who contribute to the ethos of the Hall; and have not previously received a George Roberts CBE Bursary or Halls of Residence Bursary. Tenure is dependent on satisfactory academic progress, continued residence, and continued enrolment at James Cook University.
The value of the scholarship varies depending on income received from the fund. The bursary will go towards board accommodation expenses for 1 academic year and will be deducted from annual accommodation fees.
