The Ian Gould Experimental Science Honours Scholarship has been established via a personal gift from Dr Ian Gould, Chancellor of the University of South Australia. The scholarship aims to encourage and support students to undertake 'hands on' research in an honours year, where the student proposes to engage actively in experimental work and collect and analyse their own data for thesis work in any area of science, including the social sciences.
Applicants must: hold, or expect to obtain, an undergraduate degree by commencement of the honours degree; be eligible for admission to an honours degree; be commencing full-time study in a science or social science discipline at the University of South Australia in the year for which the scholarship is tenable; and demonstrate that their honours work contains a significant experimental component. Applicants of any citizenship and from any university are eligible to apply. International students must meet the minimum English language requirements. Selection is based on academic merit, research thesis proposal, a reference from research thesis proposal, a reference from the research supervisor, and interview performance.
The scholarship is valued at $5,000 for 1 year, paid in 2 equal instalments.
