Jack and Eleanor Bendat have donated a sum of money to establish a scholarship program at the University of Western Australia to assist and encourage Indigenous students from regional Western Australia who are experiencing financial hardship to continue and complete their first undergraduate degree course.
Applicants must: be Australian citizens or permanent residents; be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent; have successfully completed 48 points of their first undergraduate degree; intend to continue their studies on a full-time basis; be from a rural or regional area of Western Australia; and demonstrate financial need. Selection is based on academic merit and financial hardship. Shortlisted applicants may be required to attend an interview.
The scholarship is valued at $5,000 per year for the remainder of the course, including honours year if applicable.
