Youth Off The Streets National Scholarship Program
In 1991, Father Chris Riley founded Youth Off The Streets with the mission of providing all young people with the opportunity to achieve their greatest potential and to break the cycle of poverty, disadvantage and marginalisation. The scholarship program will support young people who show the potential and desire to further their talents, but who would struggle to move forward without assistance. The Youth Off The Streets Scholarship Program gives young people throughout Australia the opportunity to make their dreams a reality.
The Youth Off The Streets Scholarship Program is not restricted to a specific study or training path. The scholarships are open to young people with genuine talent, ability and determination in any field, including (but not limited to): education and training; visual or performing arts; sport; trade skills; and music. Applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents, and be between the ages of 14 and 21 on 6 April 2012. Selection is based on: talent or skill; ability to demonstrate a clear path to further talents; and financial need.
The scholarships are valued at $5,000, paid in instalments over 2 years, and can be used for educational course fees and support courses (e.g. equipment, fees, uniform, textbooks, stationery).
